The only time I ever filed a claim it was denied. Heavy rain caused basement to flood 18" deep because the drain that usually prevented that plugged up. Adjustor said it was not covered. My house is old. Still has some knob&tube wiring. Insurance company refused to continue coverage. Knob&Tube is no more problem than Romex, probably less. We do not have insurance now. Oh well, Jesus will still take me when it is over.

“no one thought that this problem would affect so much of the US so quickly…” just after 5:45. For one, I did as an environmental scientist and engineer because it has been known for decades the ongoing climate change amplifies weather; be it hurricanes, tornadoes, flooding, drought, etc. When a tipping point of realization is passed in a monetary market, without built in dampeners to change (as in the stock market), the defecation can hit the ventilation.

It is the reason why you have totthpaste and electronic devices. Used EVs. Electric lawn equipment and tools. All over 8 yr timespan. Heavy work over last 2yrs as old systems were inadequate and failing. Roof siding poor insulation substandard wiring and box. Final lift was replacing gas furnace wirh heat pump. Gas line was removed. We kive by Lake Erie and heat pump passed rhe test. We could so we did... We encourage our well off friends to do the same. Little success so far.. try try again

Energy storage is something that would really help.with resiliency. It would be nice if whole home generators could be more affordable and/or there were plans to get something distributed into places where individuals cant afford energy storage. Not sure what that would look like - a large central hub where you could charge up your energy storage before storms...something that makes it accessible and affordable. The problem is that means changing existing infrastructure...and we seem to be terrible at that for...reasons. (Cough...the fossil fuel industry lobbyists).

We're fortunate enough and over several years we've moved to 100% electrification with going results. First adopters are nothing new. They help by paying a premium early on. In turn manufacturers can use the money and data to scale product and lower cost. This is exactly what happened with personal computers then cell phones. Both today are infinitely better at lower cost.

AP News interviewed Hamas leaders in April 2024, and they said they will disarm in exchange for a 2 state solution along 1967 borders as recognized by previous UN resolutions. They've been open to this 2 state solution since they updated their charter in 2017. But for some reason everyone still says Hamas wants to destroy Israel and expel Jews. This is not true. They've been meeting with the PA in Moscow to discuss a new government coalition... When Hamas and other Palestinian leaders say "end the occupation" they just mean the military control/tyranny and illegal settlements of internationally recognized Palestinian territories. Even though there's a movement for a single singular democratic state for both Israeli Jews and Palestinians to live together, the majority of Palestinians just want to cut their losses and accept a 2 state solution along 1967 borders for the sake of peace and self determination free from Israeli occupation and blockade. The majority of Israelis currently don't want a 2 state or a single secular binational state, and neither does the government. The 2 state will need to be forced by international community. The US needs to stop bring an impedement.
